Number Of People Injured During Protests In France Rises To 227 - Reports

The number of people injured during the Saturday protests against the increasing fuel prices in France has increased up to 227, local media reported.
Earlier in the day, French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said that 106 people had been injured during the protests.
According to the new data of the Interior Ministry, the number of injured people has risen up to 227, while 117 people have been detained, the Parisien newspaper reported.
According to the BFMTV broadcaster, most of the injured people were wounded by cars that plunged into crowds of people, who blocked the roads. One of such incidents in the department of Isere left one of the protesters dead.
The protests have been triggered by a fuel prices hike in France. While the price of diesel has risen by around 23 percent, and the petrol price has seen a 15 percent rise in 2018, and a further rise is set to happen on January 1.
