The accident occurred in the Kintampo North municipal district, mynewsgh.com news website specified.
A bus heading to the southern city of Kumasi collided head-on on the Kintampo-Tamale highway with a bus heading to Bolgatanga, located in the country's north. While the Kumasi-bound bus went up in flames, and all of its passengers died immediately, the Bolgatanga-bound bus fell into a ditch.
Several passengers of the Bolgatanga-bound bus have survived and were taken to a local hospital.
Investigation into the incident is underway. It is speculated that one of the drivers dozed off and drove into the oncoming lane.
