WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st November, 2018) Canceling US defense contracts with Saudi Arabia would be an enormous benefit to China and Russia, US President Donald Trump said in a statement on Tuesday.
"After my heavily negotiated trip to Saudi Arabia last year, the Kingdom agreed to spend and invest $450 billion in the United States," Trump said.
"If we foolishly cancel these contracts, Russia and China would be the enormous beneficiaries - and very happy to acquire all of this newfound business."
US lawmakers have called for further action against the government of Saudi Arabia, including axing the arms deal with the Kingdom, over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The Trump administration has already sanctioned 17 Saudi nationals who were allegedly involved in the killing.
