Putin to Meet With S.Korean Leader, Japanese, Chinese Prime Ministers in Singapore- Peskov

Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with the Indonesian and South Korean leaders, the prime ministers of Japan and Thailand and the premier of the Chinese State Council during the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Singapore, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th November, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with the Indonesian and South Korean leaders, the prime ministers of Japan and Thailand and the premier of the Chinese State Council during the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Singapore, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, Putin embarked on his three-day visit to Singapore.

"On-the-go [Putin] will talk to Indonesian counterpart [Joko Widodo]. We hope, he will have an on-the-go conversation with South Korean President Moon Jae-in. Of course, [there will be] a conversation with Japanese Prime Minister [Shinzo] Abe, there will also be meetings with Chinese State Council Premier [Li Keqiang] and Thai Prime Minister [Prayut Chan-o-cha]," Peskov told reporters.

He added that Putin's agenda in Singapore had been changed since his arrival in the country had been delayed.

"Putin arrived in Singapore with a delay, important meetings continued in Moscow that is why there was a delay. In this connection, [the visit's] agenda has been a little bit changed, we hope that the part of negotiations with the prime minister, which should have been held today along with the signing of documents and statements for the press, might be held in the reduced version tomorrow.

I am referring to the conversation with Singapore's Prime Minister [Lee Hsien Loong]," Peskov indicated.

Asked about the simultaneous trips abroad of the Russian president and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Peskov indicated that the absence of the Russian leader and the government's head did not prevent them from fully carrying out their duties.

"We are living in the communication age ... And the modern satellite and other communications ... enable both the government's head and the country's leader to carry out their duties almost fully regardless of their present location," Peskov said.

Both Putin and Medvedev are currently traveling abroad, with the Russian president taking part in the ASEAN summit and the prime minister participating in an international conference on Libya in the Italian city of Palermo.
