Qatar, France Agree to Establish Strategic Dialogue - Doha

Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said on Monday that he and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian signed a document on strategic dialogue to strengthen mutual security and address a wide range of regional issues

DOHA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said on Monday that he and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian signed a document on strategic dialogue to strengthen mutual security and address a wide range of regional issues.

"We held a series of talks with the French minister, discussing regional problems, Palestine, Syria, Libya, Yemen, and ways to fight terrorism. Today we signed a document on establishing a strategic dialogue between the two states, which provides for strengthening cooperation in defense, security, counter-terrorism, energy, economy and culture," Al Thani said.

In turn, Le Drian noted that amid the increased threats in the region and the world, such strategic cooperation was a necessity.
