Russia and Egypt advocate the resumption of direct dialogue between the parties to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, including on the issue of Jerusalem's status, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.

"Russia and Egypt advocate adherence to the principles of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement embodied in the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the Arab Peace Initiative, as well as for the early resumption of direct dialogue between the parties on all contentious issues, including the status of Jerusalem," Putin said after talks with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah Sisi.
