LUKHOVITSY (Russia) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG, which is the part of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), will soon sign a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry on deliveries of the newest MiG-35 (NATO reporting name Fulcrum-F) fighter jets, the corporations director, General Ilya Tarasenko, said Friday.
"In the near future," Tarasenko told journalists, asked about the time frame for the fighter jet deliveries.
The MiG-35 is a multipurpose fourth-generation fighter jet and an advanced derivative of the original MiG-29M/M2 and MiG-29K/KUB fighters.
It features improved combat capabilities and flight performance characteristics.
The Russian Defense Ministry said last year that it expected to start purchasing the MiG-35 jets in 2018.
According to the UAC's president, Yury Slyusar, the corporation is planning to deliver six MiG-35 fighters to the Russian Defense Ministry in the first stage. The first delivery will take place this year.
