Rwanda's Leader Kagame Passes Mantle Of AU Chairmanship To Egypt's President Sisi

ADDIS ABABA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 10th February, 2019) Rwandan President Paul Kagame passed on Sunday African Union's (AU) chairmanship to his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah Sisi having expressed his full support for the incoming union's head.
"With our full and unqualified support there is no doubt that he will take our union forward decisively to new and greater heights," Kagame said.
At the opening ceremony, Sisi shook Kagame's hand before taking the accustomed seat for the head of the African Union.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has been chosen as the AU chair starting 2020.
The African Union, headquartered in the Ethiopian capital, is a continental union comprised of 55 member states, which aims to achieve regional integration and increase solidarity among all African countries.
