WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 06th June, 2019) There is not enough support in US Congress to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said in an interview.
"Right now there doesn't appear to be the support for it," Nadler, a Democrat, told CNN on Wednesday when asked why he does not open an impeachment probe immediately.
The Trump administration has prevented officials from testifying to Congress about Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 elections. Democrats have claimed starting impeachment proceedings may be the only way to get the informaton.
House Democrats next week will vote on whether to hold US Attorney General William Barr in contempt for refusing to appear before Congress.
