US Treasury Chief, Trade Representative To Hold Talks In China Next Week - Reports

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 06th February, 2019) US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer will meet with Chinese counterparts for negotiations in Beijing next week, media reported.

Unnamed officials said that the agenda for the trade negotiations in Bejing will be expanded to include the topic of hacking, the New York Times reported on Tuesday citing Dow Jones.

Chinese and US delegations met for trade talks in Washington last week. The White House in a statement said the sides made progress but much work remains to be done.

The South China Morning Post newspaper reported earlier this week that President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping may meet in Vietnam on February 27-28 to discuss ways to resolve the US-Chinese trade dispute.

At the G20 summit in Argentina in December, Trump and Xi agreed to a 90-day truce in their tariff war to allow room for a new trade agreement. The 90-day period is set to end on March 1.
