Moscow does not see any justification for new US sanctions against the Russian Federation, deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Tuesday.
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) Moscow does not see any justification for new US sanctions against the Russian Federation, deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Tuesday.
The US Treasury announced earlier in the day that the United States has imposed new sanctions on two Russian shipping companies and six Russia-flagged vessels allegedly involved in facilitating the illegal transfer of petroleum products to North Korea. In addition, a Russian legal entity and two Russian citizens have been sanctioned for attempts to circumvent previously imposed sanctions.
"It has become a bad tradition to constantly turn to the topic of sanctions against Russia imposed by Washington under false pretext," Ryabkov said in a commentary posted on the Foreign Ministry's website.
"As usual, no evidence or justification, only malicious insinuations. They [the Americans] act on the principle of 'the worse, the better," Ryabkov stressed.
He added that Moscow will continue to respond to US sanctions in a way that would not harm Russia's national interests.
