ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 20th Mar, 2019) The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, has won the 'Oil and Gas Project of the Year' accolade at the 2019 MEED Projects Awards.
The award was presented to ADNOC for the Taweelah Gas Compression Plant project that was completed in record time, under the highest safety standards. The award recognises Taweelah’s strategic importance to the UAE’s gas security and ADNOC’s commitment to providing a sustainable and economic gas supply to the UAE.
The Taweelah Gas Compression Plant, located 50 kilometres north of Abu Dhabi city, utilises up to 450 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of sales gas and will ensure uninterrupted gas supplies to major Abu Dhabi industries and the Northern Emirates. The plant was inaugurated in November 2018.
Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Saif Sultan Al Nasseri, CEO of ADNOC Gas Processing, said, "This prestigious award recognises how excellent teams, working closely with strong partners can deliver a major project efficiently and in record time.
The Taweelah Gas Compression Plant is a strategic asset to the UAE that will expand our gas supply to Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates as we deliver on our promise to ensure a sustainable and economic supply of gas to support the nation’s economic diversification."
The Taweelah Gas Compression Plant comprises three compression trains, each with a processing capacity of 225 mmscfd. At any one time, two of the compression trains will be operational, with the third on standby.
The project represents an important step in achieving the ADNOC Group’s 2030 smart growth strategy of maximising value from Abu Dhabi’s hydrocarbon resources. Siemens AG was the main contractor for the project.
The MEED Projects Awards celebrates the best that the GCC projects industry has to offer. The awards recognise the value and quality of a project through its entire life cycle, from the design through to engineering and construction, and its wider contribution to society and the environment.
