Chairman Of Special Olympics Visits General Women’s Union

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 21st Mar, 2019) Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women’s Union, GWU, has affirmed that People of Determination are highly appreciated by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the GWU, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation.
This came after Al Suwaidi received today Timothy Shriver, Chairman of Special Olympics, and his accompanying delegation who witnessed the launch of the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019, in the presence of Reem Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
At the meeting, which was held at the GWU's premises, Al Suwaidi noted that Sheikha Fatima pays great attention to People of Determination and provides them with facilities and integrate them into society. Therefore, Sheikha Fatima called for the establishment of an association to support mothers of people with determination.
The organisation will promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge, organise training workshops for mothers, and provide a link between them and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
She added that the UAE has made great progress in empowering people with disabilities, and many of them have been working in government and private sectors and are doing their jobs efficiently.
Shriver toured the Al Jawhara Hall, where the awards received by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, are on display, in recognition of her role in supporting humanitarian and charitable causes and the advancement of Emirati women, People of Determination, and children.
The Chairman of the Special Olympics and the delegation lauded the role played by Sheikha Fatima in supporting and empowering women in all fields and the great interest shown by her to people with disabilities.
