ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 25th Mar, 2019) H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, said today that the Law No 7 of 2019 issued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on establishing the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority translates the UAE wise leadership's determination to lay down a robust base for well-thought-out, growth-driven and innovation-focused strategies in the field of agricultural sustainability and food security coupled with a secure and safe environment that ensures highest food security standards and criteria in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
"The move is reflective of the ambitions held by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, toward turning Abu Dhabi into a pioneering hub for agricultural innovation in a desert environment in continuation of the government’s Ghadan 21 AED50 billion stimulus programme which accelerates the emirate's efforts to drive scientific research and agricultural development," Sheikh Mansour added.
Sheikh Mansour noted that the newly established authority carries on the great strides initiated by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to ensure a bright future for the country in the field on agriculture in line with the all-embracing development drive taking place as part of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 which is based on establishing a resilient and elastic infrastructure capable of driving economic growth and enabling the country to survive food and biosecurity-related challenges with the ultimate goal of ensuring social welfare and economic wellbeing in the UAE and upholding the status of Abu Dhabi as one of the key world capitals seeking to transform to a knowledge-based economy.
"Food security continues to be a national and strategic priority that entails concerted actions between the government and private sectors in order to ensure a well-integrated food security strategy conducive to unlocking the value in the agriculture and food supply chains and ensuring all segments of society have access to all food supplies," he added, noting the essential role to be played by the new entity in developing unified strategies that underpin existing and future partnerships with the private sector to ensure a sustainable agriculture sector.
