ATC To Record Abidi's Statement In Defamation Case On April 5

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) resuming the hearing of a case pertaining to usage of inappropriate and derogatory language in an interview over a web TV by the former PPP Senator Faisal Raza Abidi against a former Chief Justice here on Wednesday approved the defense request for producing more evidence in the matter
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Apr, 2019 ) :An anti-terrorism court (ATC) resuming the hearing of a case pertaining to usage of inappropriate and derogatory language in an interview over a web tv by the former PPP Senator Faisal Raza Abidi against a former Chief Justice here on Wednesday approved the defense request for producing more evidence in the matter.
ATC judge Shahrukh Arjumand resumed the hearing whereas Abidi was present in the court.
The Defense Counsel urged the court for adjournment and also requested for producing evidence in the next date against which the ATC judge asked to record the accused statement on the day.
Two co-accused Hans Masroor and Ahsan Saleem had already recorded their statement in the case.
Later, the judge adjourned the hearing and directed to record Abidi's statement under section 342 of Cr.PC in the next date of hearing which is fixed for April 5.
It is worth mentioning that charges had already been framed against the former PPP Senator in the said case.
Anchor Shanzay Rehman which hosted such interview had been declared proclaimed offender by the court.
Abidi was booked in October 2018 in such case by the Secretariat Police after registering First Information Report.
