ATTOCK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Feb, 2018 ) :A woman gave birth to a child in an ambulance outside Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) Hassanabdal on Wednesday. THQ Hassanabdal has proved that the only government-run health facility in the area is incapable of dealing with patients especially expecting mothers.
Narrating his ordeal Noor Khan told media that he brought his 27 years old wife Kubra Bibi to hospital with severe labour pains. He said after an hour a gynecologist examined his wife and referred her to Holy Family hospital.
He said Rescue 1122 ambulance was called to shift her to Rawalpindi. They had hardly covered a few kilometers from hospital when his wife delivered her baby in the ambulance. He said that at the time of delivery no female paramedical staff was present in the ambulance.
He said that the negligence of the hospital staff especially the said lady doctor has put the life of his wife and her newly born baby at stake. He said that the negligence, apathy and unprofessional attitude speaks volumes of incompetence of the lady doctor as baby delivery was in place but the said doctor referred her to almost 60 kilometers away hospital in Rawalpindi just to get rid of the patient.
Talking to journalists, a Rescue 1122 official said the baby born just few kilometers away the hospital. On contact,Medical Superintendent THQ Hassanabdal Dr. Asad Ismaeel said he is on leave and unaware of the incident.
When contacted to get version, Deputy Medical Superintendent THQ Dr Tahir Ur Rehman confirmed the incident. He said the patient was referred to Holy Family hospital Rawalpindi due to her critical condition as she was bleeding when she was brought to hospital.
He said that the patient was brought with severe placental abruption and due to no blood bank and other facilities the patient was referred to major health facility in Rawalpindi to save the life of the patient and her expected baby.
