Govt Will Take Solid Measures To Address Malnutrition Issue: Food Minister

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2019 ) :Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for food Services, Qalandar Lodhi here Friday said the government would take concrete measures for eradication of malnutrition.

Addressing the inaugural session of an ongoing five years programme 'Food Fortification' with assistance of MacDonald and Nutrition International, the Minister said that malnutrition was a big challenge and solid measures were inevitable for solution of the problem.

The Minister said that the provincial government was committed to address malnutrition issue.

The other speakers also informed that Food Fortification Programme was launched in Pakistan to address malnutrition mostly faced by poor people including youth, children and women.

They urged for efforts to enhance capacity of officials of relief and other related organisations for effective implementation of nutrition laws.

The speakers suggested technical assistance for inclusion of healthy materials including iron, vitamins etc in edible items to address this issue.

Qalandar Lodhi said that KP government highly value UK's Food Fortification Programme and assured full support. He called for mass awareness programmes at district and tehsil level for sensitization of masses in this regard.
