Half Of Pakistanis (52%) Do Not Approve Of Giving Citizenship To Afghan Refugees, 38% Support The Idea Of Granting Them Pakistani Citizenship

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, majority of Pakistanis (52%) do not approve of giving citizenship to Afghan refugees, 38% support the idea of granting them Pakistani citizenship
Islamabad, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th November, 2018) According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, majority of Pakistanis (52%) do not approve of giving citizenship to Afghan refugees, 38% support the idea of granting them Pakistani citizenship.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Recently, Prime Minister Imran Khan while giving his opinion on providing citizenship to Afghan refugees said that Pakistani citizenship should be given to such refugees who came to Pakistan temporarily but are still living here and their children were born here as well.
In his opinion it is the right of every Afghan refugee who was born in Pakistan to have a Pakistani citizenship. Some people agree with Imran Khan’s view while others do not. What is your opinion about it?” In response to this question, 38% said that Afghan refugees should be given citizenship, 52% said they should not be given the citizenship, while 10% did not know or respond to the question.
