The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday directed Rameeza Majeed Nizami, owner of Waqt TV channel, to appear in-person on February 16 in a contempt of court case or her arrest warrants would be issued
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Feb, 2018 ) :The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday directed Rameeza Majeed Nizami, owner of Waqt tv channel, to appear in-person on February 16 in a contempt of court case or her arrest warrants would be issued.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui issued the orders while hearing the contempt of court case against Waqt TV anchorperson Mati Ullah Jan, Rameeza Majeed Nizami, bureau chief and producers of the programme "Apna Apna Gareban".
Advocate General Mian Abdul Rauf, ICT Prosecutor Safeer Hussain Shah and respondents Mati Ullah Jan, Muhammad Ali Javed, Sardar Hameed and Zeeshan Mehmood appeared before the court in compliance with its orders.
The respondents' counsel informed the court that Rameeza Majeed Nizami could not travel to Islamabad from Lahore due to some ailment issues.
Justice Siddiqui observed that the contempt proceedings initiated by the court were criminal in nature, therefore, her personal attendance was directed.
The court wanted to play the programme in open court in her presence and then to proceed further in the matter, he added. The court adjourned the case till February 16 with the direction for personal appearance of Rameeza Majeed Nizami, warning that otherwise her arrest warrants would be issued.
It may be mentioned that Justice Siddiqui had taken notice of the programme aired on February , in which anchorperson Mati Ullah Jan had the name of the judge with mala fide intention.
