Moulana Azam Tariq murder case: ATC summons prosecution witnesses

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Thursday, resuming the hearing of a case pertaining to murder of Moulana Azam Tariq, summoned for prosecution witnesses in the next date of hearing

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jan, 2019 ) :An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Thursday, resuming the hearing of a case pertaining to murder of Moulana Azam Tariq, summoned for prosecution witnesses in the next date of hearing.

ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand heard the case.

During the course of proceedings, the prosecution disclosed in before the court that prosecution witnesses including the doctor which prepared the MLR get retired from his services and was residing outside the country and needed some time for their appearance.

The court accepted the request and summoned them for next hearing.

The ATC also expressed anger over non production of case property and directed for criminal proceedings against the investigation officer which failed to produce such despite various notices.

All the accused were present in the court.

Some 13 suspects were booked by the Islamabad Police in the murder case of Maulana Azam Tariq, who was gunned down by assailants in 2003 in the remits of Islamabad's Golra police.

It is worth mentioning that prosecution had already filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) challenging the acquittal of Sibtain Kazmi from murder charges of Moulana Azam Tariq.

The state counsel had contended before the IHC bench that the trial court had not completed all the legal requirements in deciding the murder case against accused Sabtain Kazmi. The court was adjourned till February 6.
