Nepal, World Bank, UNOPS Delegation Visits ERRA

ISLAMABAD, Nov 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : A delegation from Nepal along with officials of United Nations Office Project Services (UNOPS) and World Bank visited Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) here on Tuesday and discussed rehabilitation activities in different areas.
The delegation included UNOPS project leader Alexandra Tomic, World Bank Disaster Risk Management Expert and Social Protection Expert Ahsan Tehsin, officers from Statistical Bureau of Nepal, Civil Registration, demographers, engineers and Ministry of Finance Nepal.
Acting Deputy Chairman ERRA Brig Abu Bakr Bajwa on the occasion said it was an honour to welcome a group of UNOPS, World Bank and Nepalese government officials, which provided a forum to share experience and lessons learnt.
UNOPS is leading the reconstruction projects in Nepal in collaboration with World Bank after the April 2015 earthquake, the second most devastating natural catastrophe after 2005 earthquake in AJK and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Pakistan).
ERRA in close collaboration with World Bank led its flagship Rural Housing Programme targeting rebuilding of over 600,000 rural houses, where UNOCHA was an implementation partner. Visitors shared their experiences and problems faced after the Nepalese earthquake of April 2015.
The Nepalese delegation appreciated the ERRA's efforts for reconstruction and rehabilitation of earthquake affected areas of Pakistan.
