PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2018 ) :Jailed MPA elect Baldev Kumar would be administered oath as MPA of the KP Assembly on Tuesday (February 27) after Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Asad Qaiser withdrew the production order for February 26.
Baldev Kumar is presently in central jail for the last two years facing murder charges in the killing of Sardar Sooran Singh the then Special Assistant to KP Chief Minister on Minorities Affairs.
The assembly secretariat today issued a letter calling for bringing the jailed MPA elect Baldev Kumar to the assembly session due for February 27, at 3 pm. In another letter addressed to Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Department the production order of Baldev Kumar son of Nanak Chan district Buner issued for today February 26 is hereby withdrawn with immediate effect.
The Peshawar High Court had issued production order of the jailed Baldev Kumar on February 23, in its judgment. Baldev Kumar had moved the court to this effect. It is worth mentioning here that Sardar Soran Singh was gunned down near his house in Pir Baba area of district Buner on April 23, 2016.
Police had arrested Kumar and two other accomplices in Singh's murder case and were sent to jail. The provincial government had requested the Election Commission of Pakistan to withhold the notification of Baldev Kumar as MPA till the court's order in Singh's murder case.
However, the Election Commission had contended that since Kumar was not convicted and was merely charged in a criminal case, his notification of become a Member of the Provincial Assembly could not be withheld.
