Durrani called Bilawal’s Oxford degree a waste of stolen public money.
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd April, 2019) Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Media Iftikhar Durrani has come in the defence of Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding his comments on Germany and Japan sharing a border.
Prime Minister Imran Khan is in Iran on two-day official visit on the invitation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
During this visit, the prime minister mixed up some historical facts while addressing a joint press conference with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
While giving an example of how two countries set up joint industries at the border region to improve economic ties after the war, Prime Minister Imran Khan mentioned Germany and Japan instead of Germany and France.
“The more trade you have with each other your ties automatically become stronger…Germany and Japan killed millions of their civilians until after the Second World War when they both decided to have joint industries on their border regions,” the prime minister was recorded as saying.
This went viral on social media and people trolled the prime minister for saying that Japan and Germany share a border, ultimately raising questions over his Oxford degree.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto mocked the prime minister, calling it very embarrassing.
In a tweet, Bilawal said this is what happens when Oxford University gives admission to people just because they can play cricket.
“😳 our Prime Minister thinks that Germany & Japan share a border. How embarrassing, this is what happenes when you @UniofOxford let people in just because they can play cricket,” he wrote.
Responding to the tweet, Iftikhar Durrani called Bilawal as ‘accidental chairman’ and clarified that the prime minister never said Japan is a neighbour of Germany. He only said border regions of Japan and Germany have joint industries.
In the same tweet, Durrani called Bilawal’s Oxford degree a waste of stolen public money.
“Mr accidental chairman, where did PM say Japan is neighbouring Germany? PM said border regions of Japan and Germany have joint industries which you failed to grasp and so does few intellectuals, What a waste of stolen Public money on your oxford degree!!!” he wrote.
