Procurement of 1615 kanal land for Buner Marble City under process

A proposal to establish a Marble City at Buner by provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) is being pursued for which procurement of 1,615 kanal land at a cost of Rs.745 million is under process.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Dec, 2018 ) :A proposal to establish a Marble City at Buner by provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) is being pursued for which procurement of 1,615 kanal land at a cost of Rs.745 million is under process.

Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) has been assigned to execute the task.

Sources at Industries and Production Division on Tuesday said as reported by Provincial Minerals Development Department, it has initiated a Competitive Industries Project in collaboration with World Bank at a cost of US $ nine million for establishing a Mine Machinery Pool at Risalpur, Nowshera to promote mechanized mining of dimension stones across the Province including Buner.

The sources said 13 sets of machinery are being utilized in dimension stones quarries and the provincial government is considering to add 20 more sets of machinery to existing Machinery Pool.

For facilitating transportation of marble in Buner district, the government has also constructed six km shingle road at a cost of Rs.

27.2 million.

Among potential marble bearing areas of the country, district Buner is reported to be the highest marble producing area with estimated marble resource potential exceeding 1,700 million tonnes.

The Ministry of Industries and Production, Government of Pakistan has also established a dedicated company, Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) for the value chain development of the marble and granite sector by introducing mechanization on international standards.

The Company has established three mechanized quarry projects in Buner and is facilitating the mine owners by providing mechanized mining machinery on subsidized rental basis through its Machinery Pool.

PASDEC has also provided skill development training to localsof Buner to operate mechanized mining machinery.
