The Lahore High Court has ordered PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif's lawyers to present arguments in Ramazan Sugar Mills reference on Tuesday
LAHORE (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / NNI - 11th February, 2019) The Lahore High Court has ordered PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif's lawyers to present arguments in Ramazan Sugar Mills reference on Tuesday.
Shehbaz Sharif, while he was serving as Punjab CM, had issued orders for the construction of a drain in Chiniot for the benefit of his son's sugar mills, said NAB.The court was hearing the bail petition of Shehbaz Sharif on Monday.
The lawyers presented initial arguments in the Ashiana housing scheme reference. The court asked NAB Prosecutor Akram Qureshi where the laundered money was transferred to? Qureshi said that the opposition leader didn't benefit himself but rather helped others make money. The bench then asked about the owners of the Paragon Housing Scheme.
Qureshi said that Nadeem Zia and Qaiser Amin Butt own it.
The court then asked their relation with Shehbaz Sharif. The NAB prosecutor said that they have political terms. The hearing has been adjourned till February 12, Tuesday. The opposition leader was arrested by NAB last year in connection with the Ashiana Housing Scheme.
NAB says he awarded contracts to companies he favoured. NAB says he caused a loss of billion of rupees to the national exchequer by cancelling a contract to the successful bidder that increased the total cost of the project. The bureau accused him of misuse of authority.
His arrest came after Fawad Hassan Fawad, Shehbaz's former implementation secretary, recorded his statement and told NAB that everything he did was because Shehbaz told him to. NNI
