Speakers stress weight to public opinion before initiating schemes

Participants of dialogue on Governance and Peace have urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for taking public opinion into consideration before launching

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2017 ) :Participants of dialogue on Governance and Peace have urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for taking public opinion into consideration before launching any development projects and other steps to mitigate their ordeals.

The dialogue titled, Town Hall Meeting, was organized under auspices of Individual Land (IL), here in a local hotel Tuesday. Dozens of representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Members of Local Government (LG), Students, Media persons were included Asif Baghi, Arangzeb Yousafzai, Dr Saira Noor, Syed Hashim, Imran, Muhammad Saleem and others expressed their views regarding their role in government's making policies related to the masses.

They said that any planning either made by provincial or local government related to people, could not succeed unless participation of the public were ensured as stakeholders.

The development, they said, had some positive and negative impact as well but the government always prefer to the positive side just to gain name while does not pay heed on the bad results of any developing project but as contrary to it, the masses had a close vigilance over the activities of it and had some useful suggestions to avoid such impacts.

` For instance, they added that the recent development project Peshawar Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) was a great step of the provincial government to provide better transportation facilities to the people and control traffic congestion, but it would also increase unemployment in the province as local transports including taxis, rickshaws and mini buses would obviously be parked.

Farhan Khalid, Programme Manager of Individual Land (IL) gave a detailed presentation regarding the role of all stakeholders in government's developmental activities.
