The day is celebrated to create awareness among women for their rights.
LAHORE- (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th March 2019) International Women’s Day will be celebrated across the world including Pakistan on Friday.
The day is celebrated to create awareness among women for their rights and protect their lives.
Women and transgender organizations of Pakistan have planned various programs on the day. Rallies will be taken out in different cities to raise the voice for the protection of women rights. The provincial governments' women protection and social welfare departments have also planned seminars and conferences for the purpose.
Critics say the day is though celebrated in Pakistan for years but it only limited to hollow slogans and activism.
Women organizations say the government failed to provide protection to female workers. The harassment at workplaces is also the biggest issue which Pakistani woman faces, say the rights activists.
On the other side, there is no reduction in cases of violence against females. They incidents of honor killing, sexual abuse, acid throwing are on the rise.
In the prevailing overall scenario, the rights activists are showing resolve to continue the struggle for bringing betterment in the society. The betterment in society, they believe, is not possible without bringing improvement in women’s lives and providing them their due share. Women across the country will celebrate the day with this resolve on Friday.
