National Men, Women Judo Championship Next Month

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Nov, 2016 ) : First time in the history of country's judo, the national men and women championships will be held simultaneously in the third week of next month here.

"It is going to be the first ever judo event in which both men and women championships are taking place and a keen competition is likely to be witnessed in the respective championships,"said a spokesman of Pakistan Judo Federation on Tuesday.

He said as many as 14 Units of Pakistan Judo Federation namely the four Provinces, Army, WAPDA, Railway, Police, Navy, HEC, FATA, Islamabad, AJK, Gilgit Baltistan, will participate in the Championships in which bouts will be held in accordance with the rules of International judo federation.

"The top players of the championships will be considered for their selection in the national men and women teams to represent the country in the international events abroad ",he said adding" Advance Judo Training will also be provided to them under the Coaching of Foreign Judo Coach in the National Judo Training Camp".

To a question he said PJF is receiving congratulatory messages from the international Judo's bodies on the recent elections of the body. The President of Judo Union of Asian, through an email recently congratulated, Col. Junaid Alam, Mansoor Ahmed, President and Secretary PJF, as well as Col. Shujaat Ali, Vice President on their election.
