SBP, PLTA To Hold Tennis Championship Jointly

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan Tuesday said that a national level tennis championship, in collaboration with Punjab Lawn Tennis Championship, will be organised soon here at the state-of-the-art tennis stadium.

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Sep, 2018 ) :Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan Tuesday said that a national level tennis championship, in collaboration with Punjab Lawn Tennis Championship, will be organised soon here at the state-of-the-art tennis stadium.

He said this at a meeting with Chairman Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA), Rao Iftikhar at his office.

After the meeting, Aamir Jan and Rao Iftikhar also visited and inspected various parts of the Tennis Stadium and Punjab International Swimming Complex.

Director Admin Javed Chohan, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Tariq Wattoo and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Director General Sports Punjab said that dates of the said tennis championship will be announced shortly.

"Pakistan has plenty of tennis talent and has produced several world class male players like Aisamul Haq, Aqeel Khan and female player Ushna Sohail," he added.

He further said Sports board Punjab (SBP) will hold regular tennis events with the cooperation of Punjab Lawn Tennis Association. "We are quite confident to find plenty of talented tennis players out of these tennis competitions," he added.

Amir Jan said that the SBP had established modern sports infrastructure all-over the province and top class sports facilities were no less than a blessing for future generations.

He said that training camps for young tennis players will be conducted at tennis stadium.

Chairman PLTA Rao Iftikhar admired the Tennis Stadium and Punjab International Swimming Complex.

He assured DG SBP of his full cooperation for the promotion of tennis in the province.
