Roscosmos Plans to Make 240 Soyuz-5 Rocket Launches From Baikonur Within 40 Years -Rogozin

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th November, 2018) Russian space agency Roscosmos plans to make 240 launches of the Soyuz-5 carrier rocket from the Baikonur cosmodrome within 40 years, according to a video posted by Roscosmos chief Dmitry Rogozin on Twitter Sunday.

"The lifecycle of the [Baiterek space] complex will make 40 years, within which 240 carrier rocket launches will be conducted, with the total budget amounting to $14.4 billion," the video said.

Kazakhstan-based Baikonur cosmodrome, operating Russian and multinational space programs, is on lease to Russia until 2050. In 2004, Russia and Kazakhstan launched the Baiterek project, envisaging the creation of the infrastructure enabling the launch of eco-friendly rocket carriers from Baikonur.
