AU Commissioner Thanks Russia For Helping Get CAR Peace Deal Parties To Negotiating Table

The African Union (AU) is grateful for Russia's help in bringing the parties of the Central African Republic (CAR) peace talks to the negotiating table in Khartoum, AU Peace and Security Commissioner Smail Chergui said Monday
ADDIS ABABA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) The African Union (AU) is grateful for Russia's help in bringing the parties of the Central African Republic (CAR) peace talks to the negotiating table in Khartoum, AU Peace and Security Commissioner Smail Chergui said Monday.
CAR President Faustin-Archange Touadera and leaders of 14 armed groups initialed the peace agreement at talks in Khartoum last week. The deal was finalized and inked in the car capital of Bangui on Wednesday.
"Russia equally had helped us just like Sudan and other partners and especially to allow us to bring together all the protagonists to the table .
.. I would like to once again reiterate my gratitude and thanks to Russia and all those who helped us to arrive to this agreement," Chergui said during a press briefing at the 32nd AU summit.
The CAR ministry for communications and media announced on Thursday that the peace agreement reached between the CAR authorities and armed groups would be unveiled at the AU summit in Addis Ababa.
