Georgia Hopes Malaysia To Open Embassy In Tbilisi

Georgia hopes that Malaysia will open an embassy in Tbilisi to better promote bilateral ties and facilitate cooperation between the two countries, its ambassador to Malaysia, Nikoloz Apkhazava said
KUALA LUMPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Aug, 2018 ) :Georgia hopes that Malaysia will open an embassy in Tbilisi to better promote bilateral ties and facilitate cooperation between the two countries, its ambassador to Malaysia, Nikoloz Apkhazava said.
"The role of an embassy is crucial to further promote the country's culture, economy, tourism, businesses, events and future prospects. It does not only benefit both countries, but also the Southeast Asian region.
"Indonesia will open a diplomatic mission in Georgia by end of 2018, the first Southeast Asian country to have an embassy in Georgia.
Hopefully, Malaysia will follow suit," he told Bernama in an interview recently.
Currently, bilateral affairs between both countries are handled by the Malaysian Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine.
Georgia, a country of 3.7 million in the Caucasus region is also known as a cradle of wine amidst 8,000 years of continuous wine making tradition.
It is where Europe meets Asia, bounded on the west by the Black Sea, the north by Russia, the south by Turkey and Armenia, and to the east by Azerbaijan.
Covering an area of 69,700 sq kilometres, about 80 percent of Georgia is mountainous.
