MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd May, 2019) Japan is not involved in mediating conflict between the United States and Iran, an official from the Japanese Foreign Ministry told Sputnik.
On Monday, a source close to the Iraqi prime minister told Sputnik that Japan, along with Qatar, Iraq, Switzerland, Oman and Russia, mediated in resolving the conflict between Washington and Tehran.
"There is no such fact," the official said, when asked to confirm this information.
The ministry official noted that Japan was determined to contribute to preserving the nuclear deal using its good ties with Iran.
"Japan shares with the international community the objective of preventing Iran's nuclear development and continues to play a role towards a solution through dialogue, by utilizing its traditionally amicable relationship with Iran," the official said.
