Magnitude 4.2 Quake Rocks Eastern Taiwan

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake jolted eastern Taiwan at 2:50 p.m. Saturday, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

TAIPEI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Sep, 2018 ) :A 4.2 magnitude earthquake jolted eastern Taiwan at 2:50 p.m. Saturday, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

The epicenter of the earthquake was about 36.9 kilometers north of Hualien County Hall at a depth of 24.2 km, the bureau's Seismology Center said.

The earthquake's intensity, which gauges the actual effect of a temblor, was highest in Nan'ao Township, Yilan County, where it measured 4 on Taiwan's 7-tiered intensity scale.

Heping Township in Hualien recorded an intensity of 3, while the intensity in areas of Taichung, Nantou, New Taipei and Taoyuan ranged from 1 to 2.
