North Rhine-Westphalia To Host German-Russian Sister City Conference In June - Organizers

The conference of the Russian and German sister cities will be held in the western German region of North Rhine-Westphalia on June 25-28, Director of the German-Russian Forum Martin Hoffmann said on Monday
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th February, 2019) The conference of the Russian and German sister cities will be held in the western German region of North Rhine-Westphalia on June 25-28, Director of the German-Russian Forum Martin Hoffmann said on Monday.
The announcement was made during Hoffmann's meeting with Oleg Melnichenko, the chair of the Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government and Northern Affairs of the Russian parliament's upper chamber.
"The first and important stage for us is our German-Russian sister city conference, which will take place from June 25 to June 28 in North Rhine-Westphalia," Hoffmann said.
The director noted that Germany hoped to sign a series of new partnership agreements during the conference.
Melnichenko, in turn, said that he had already accepted the invitation to attend the conference along with the Union of Russian Cities.
The German-Russian Forum was founded in 1993 and is aimed at developing cooperation between the two countries. The forum organizes various events, including sister city conferences.
