Passenger Who Threatened To Hijack Surgut-Moscow Plane Detained - Russian Investigators

The passenger who threatened to hijack the Surgut-Moscow plane has been detained, he had a conviction, Russia's Investigative Committee said in a statement on WhatsApp
"The man was detained. He is a resident of Surgut, who was previously convicted for damage to property," it said.
Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said the drunk passenger said he had weapons and tried to break into the cockpit and demanded to change the plane's course.
"According to preliminary data, the passenger, who was intoxicated, threatening that he had a weapon, during the flight tried to break into the cockpit and demanded to change the course of the aircraft. The aircraft commander decided to make a forced landing in Khanty-Mansiysk," she said.
Petrenko said a criminal case had been opened into the passenger's actions.
