MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd November, 2018) The UK Metropolitan Police on Thursday arrested a man as part of an investigation launched after two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found in an apartment in the UK capital's western Harlesden area, the police said in a statement.
The police found two IEDs in an unoccupied apartment after they arrived at a home in the Craven Park area on Wednesday. The apartment building was subsequently evacuated while the site was cordoned off as specialists examined the two devices.
"Detectives from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command investigating two devices that were found at an address in Harlesden have made an arrest.
The 48-year-old man was arrested at a residential address in north London on Thursday, 22 November on suspicion of an offence contrary to section 4 Explosives Substances Act 1883. He was taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody," the police said.
According to the statement, detectives do not currently believe that the suspect is connected to any terrorist organizations, or that there is an urgent threat to public safety.
The IEDs are now undergoing further forensic examination.
