MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th December, 2018) Presence of foreign troops in the US-controlled areas in Syria's At Tanf and the eastern bank of the Euphrates River obstructs political process in the whole of Syria, Alexander Venediktov, an aide to the Russian Security Council secretary, told Sputnik.
"There are other foreign troops in the country, and, unlike us and the Iranians, they are stationed there illegally. We are still concerned about the presence of 'gray' zones on the Syrian map. We are talking about At Tanf and the Euphrates east bank, controlled by the United States and its allies. We consider the presence of such areas in Syria as an inhibiting factor on the path to the national reconciliation and peace process in the country," the official said.
