Russia continues to request recordings of negotiations between Ukrainian air traffic control officers as well as US satellite data on the Malaysian Boeing MH17 crash to no avail, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.
"For example, the crash of the Malaysian Boeing in Ukrainian airspace, we are asking: where is the data from the Ukrainian radar? We have provided our data. Where are the records of negotiations between the Ukrainian air traffic control officers? No answer. Where is the data from the US satellites that definitely exists? No answer. The questions are pretty concrete," Lavrov told reporters.
Flight MH17 crashed near the city of Donetsk on July 17, 2014. All 298 passengers and crew members were killed.
According to the Dutch-led Joint Investigation Team (JIT), the plane was allegedly downed by a Buk missile that belonged to the Russian armed forces and was delivered to the Donbas region. Russia ahs repeatedly denied all accusations about its involvement in the tragedy, arguing that it had provided the JIT with overwhelming evidence proving that it was Ukraine's Buk systems that were responsible for the crash.
In September, the Russian Defense Ministry said that it had determined the tail number of the missile that downed the MH17 flight, saying that it was produced in the Soviet Union, delivered to a military unit in Ukraine and was never returned to Russia. Moscow called on the JIT to demand that Ukraine provide all the necessary information about the missile.
