AD Chamber, Shanghai Government Judicial Office Discuss Cooperation

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 20th Mar, 2019) The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has discussed, with the Shanghai Government Judicial Office, ways of reinforcing their cooperation in the area of international commercial arbitration.

Discussions took place during a meeting between Hilal Mohammed Al Hamli, Deputy Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, and Lu Weidong, Director-General of the Shanghai Government Judicial Office, in the presence of Dr. Magdi Ibrahim Qasim, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre.

Lu was briefed about the experiences and services of the centre, which is a branch of the chamber.

Al Hamli stated that the centre is a platform for settling commercial and investment disputes in a friendly manner, according to the best international practices while noting that it aims to settle national and international commercial conflicts by responding to the needs of investors, in line with modern arbitration regulations.

The centre also aims to raise arbitral awareness among the business community and provide services to conflicting parties, through arbitrators, experts and specialist translators, as well as by organising conferences and workshops and providing information and research.

Lu expressed his happiness at visiting the chamber and exploring the centre’s experience while praising its efforts to follow relevant international standards, and highlighting the importance of the cooperation between the centre and arbitration centres in China, especially in Shanghai.
