By: Hatem Mohamed DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 15th Oct, 2018) Top officials from Huawei have confirmed to the Emirates news Agency (WAM) that the UAE lies at the heart of the Chinese telecommunications giant’s expansion plans in the region.
"We are committed to the GCC region and our presence here in Gitex confirms our desire to continue to be close by our customers and by our partners by having more resources on the ground," said Safdar Nazir, Regional Vice President –Huawei.
"Last month we have unveiled a revolutionary 5G technology in China and we’re here this week to announce it to the entire world," the official remarked on Monday- the second day of the 38th Gitex Technology Week, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre on October 14-18.
"Artificial Intelligence is the buzzword," replied Hazem Bazan, Vic President, Channel & Commercial Sales- Enterprise business Group-Middle East, when asked about how Huawei is planning to differentiate itself from its peers and survive the fierce market competition.
"We are focused on the latest technology through qualified human resources. We are committed to have our value and edge and present our unique model to our customers and partners. Our mobile phones are hitting every and each aspect of life. We are embedding AI chips into our phones so that they can be used in multiple areas, like driverless cars, for instance. We are working with big Names in the automotive industry. We are part of the groundbreaking initiatives in the healthcare sector as well. We introduce innovative techniques to measure heartbeat, for instance, without the patient having to go see the doctor."
"We provide integrated solutions across four key domains – telecom networks, IT, smart devices, and cloud services – We are committed to bringing digital to every person, home and organisation for a fully connected, intelligent world.
"
Bazan affirmed that the coming period will see constructive partnerships with local companies in the UAE and the GCC region.
"More partnerships will materialise through our Open Lab. Our Open Lab for Enterprise Solutions is open to customers, partners, Huawei R&D, and sales. Its mission is to enable easy integration of Huawei enterprise networking products by partners' solutions, build the solutions alliance with major players in the vertical industries to strength each other's advantages, create and lead industry standards, deliver competitive and comprehensive solutions, and finally achieve win-win situation."
Touching on the advantages of 5G, Nazir said, while 2G changed our life through introducing SMS and voice messages, 5G will be transforming all aspects of our life. Take tourists as an example. By using a 5G device, a tourist, while passing through Sheikh Zayed Rd, would be able to know about how this street looked like 20 years ago, for example. On the healthcare level, it will enable patients to communicate with their families at home 24/7, which will expedite their recovery and reflect positively on their lives."
5G is the fifth generation of cellular mobile communications. It succeeds the 4g, 3g and 2G systems. 5G performance targets include high data rate, reduced latency, energy saving, cost reduction, higher system capacity and massive device connectivity.
"We have been growing in the region for many years. We see double digit growth every year. UAE is one of the biggest country we are focusing on as the opportunities here are huge," Nazir concluded.
