CJP Nisar Announces To Hire Two Transgender In Supreme Court

Says it is the topmost priority of the Supreme Court to grant equal rights to the transgender.
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 12th September, 2018) Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has announced to provide employment to two transgender in the Supreme Court.
A three-member bench headed by CJP Nisar held the hearing of a case regarding transgender persons was held in the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
During the hearing, the CJP asked if the CNICs of all the transgender applicants have been issued.
To this, the Nadra officials said that they are issuing the CNICs while transgender facilitation campaign is also being carried out in this regard.
The Nadra official said that the authority has issued CNICs to 342 transgender but they don’t come to receive them.
The CJP remarked that the transgender persons are ridiculed in society. He said that it is the topmost priority of the Supreme Court to grant rights to the transgender.
He said that equal rights will be given to transgender and more work in this regard will be done.
The CJP also announced to hire two transgender in the Supreme Court.
The Law Commission secretary told the court that transgender were murdered as well. At least 500 transgender have been killed since 2015, he said.
To this, the CJP asserted that the social issues of transgender should be resolved. He said that we want to bring them in the national mainstream.
CJP Nisar also took notice of the websites providing wrong information about transgender. He said that the content on these websites degrades the country.
The CJP, while ordering to submit recommendations within two weeks, adjourned the hearing.
