Deputy Commissioner District Battagram chairs meeting on Dengue preventive measures

Deputy Commissioner District Battagram, Faral Saqlain Wednesday said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government is very sensitive about timely preparations and quick response by all concerned department in case of the outbreak of dengue virus in the forthcoming summer season.

BATTAGRAM, Feb.28(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Feb, 2018 ) :Deputy Commissioner District Battagram, Faral Saqlain Wednesday said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government is very sensitive about timely preparations and quick response by all concerned department in case of the outbreak of dengue virus in the forthcoming summer season.

He said this during a follow-up meeting regarding Dengue prevention and control held at the DC office Battagram. The meeting held threadbare discussions on arrangements of precautionary and curative measures for controlling the dengue and treating its victims.

The participants had a detailed overview covering all aspects of the prevention and its control. The Deputy Commissioner directed that every department should nominate a focal person who could be contacted in case of emergency while the DHO was directed to ensure the establishment of Isolation Wards for dengue patients in the District and Tehsil hospitals as well as other health facilities of the district.

The deputy Commissioner assigned the duty to Public Health Engineering Department to thoroughly inspect all water supply schemes existed in the district to check leakage of water and also ensure that all water tanks are properly covered in a bid to eliminate chances of water availability for the larva growth.

It was also assigned to concerned departments that they should check the main dengue breeding spots in shape of stagnant water. Similarly, the DC asked the police, ACs, and TMOs to ensure that there is no dumping of hazardous garbage, choked drains and used tyres carrying water.

As a part of the preventive measures the participants considered the awareness among general public and especially children as an effective tool for combating the deadly dengue disease and it was decided that the district education department would communicate special messages to students in all government schools of the district.

The meeting was also attended by the District Nazim, District Police Officer, District Health Officer (DHO), Assistant Commissioners of Batagram and Alla, District Education Officer and other concerned heads of line departments.
