Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday accepted the bail of former senator Faisal Raza Abidi in two cases under Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) for giving controversial remarks against apex court judges during a web-TV interview.
IHC division bench comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Auranzeb admitted the bail of former senator against surety bonds worth Rs100,000 on basis of medical treatment grounds.
During hearing, Abidi's counsel Asif Mumtaz informed the bench that the Supreme Court had accepted the unconditional apology of his client and submitted a copy of this to the court.
Justice Athar Minallah noted that the former senator was suffering from several diseases.
The bench, however, granted bail to Faisal Raza Abidi in two cases while disposed off the plea.
It may be mentioned here that three cases were registered against former senator. The special court for anti electronic crime would decide the accused bail Friday in third case.
