Gilgit Baltistan Development Working Party(GB DWP) Approves Over Rs 3.55 Billion Worth Development Projects

The Gilgit Baltistan Development Working Party(GB DWP) has approved seven development projects worth over Rs 3.55 billion for the Gilgit Baltistan region.

GILGIT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2019 ) :The Gilgit Baltistan Development Working Party(GB DWP) has approved seven development projects worth over Rs 3.55 billion for the Gilgit Baltistan region.

The meeting which was presided over by Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Hafeezur Rehman approved five projects costing over Rs 2.20 billion in power sector, while projects worth Rs 939.7 million for GB Development Authority and over Rs 4.1 million for works department.

The development projects of the power development sector include among other development schemes construction of two megawatt hydropower project Batori and one MW hydropower poject Chilat Nagar.

The chief minister directed that thermal generators should be procured within six months as short-term solution to provide uninterrupted power supply to hospitals and overcome power shortages to areas including Hunza, Skardu, Diamer and Gilgit.

He also directed concerned officials of the power department to improve billing system and expedite recovery campaign against defaulters, adding the GB government was providing 70 percent cheaper electricity than other provinces of the country.
