Rain began minutes before 1330 hours and continued ceaselessly for around 45 minutes. It choked traffic on city roads and compelled pedestrians to pass through water in streets. Taking notice of the situation, DCO Nadir Chatham took a round of the flooded areas and ordered Wasa to drain out water from low lying within an hours. The DCO ordered Wasa to run all the disposal stations while TMAs were also directed to operate under Wasa supervision with their manpower and pumps to drain out water from all the roads, streets and important places to avoid inconvenience to the people, a district government spokesman said.
The downpour turned weather pleasant ending hot and humid weather conditions.
Children were seen playing on roads and streets. Rain caused immense troubles for the pedestrians and motorists alike. At some scattered places in low lying areas, water level was almost two to three feet high and bikers who used to reach a destination in five minutes found it an hour long affair after rain today.
