HTV simulator installed to signify drivers' training: NH&National Highways and Motorways Police MP IG

National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) Inspector General Amir Zulfiqar Khan on Tuesday said that it was for the first time in Pakistan that the latest Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) simulator has been installed to signify the importance of drivers' training.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Sep, 2018 ) :National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) Inspector General Amir Zulfiqar Khan on Tuesday said that it was for the first time in Pakistan that the latest Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) simulator has been installed to signify the importance of drivers' training.

The HTV simulator has been installed at NH&MP Driving school, Sheikhupura with the collaboration of Total Parco.

Addressing an inauguration ceremony of HTV simulator at NH&MP Driving School, Sheikhupura, the NH&MP IG said that the induction of HTV simulator along with the truck would enable NH&MP to train its drivers in heavy transport vehicles in real life training experience.

The NH&MP took the initiative of road safety keeping in view the best international standards and practices, he said and added that the department has chalked out a comprehensive plan for the safety of motorists at national highways and motorways.

He said that establishment of road safety training institutes and issuance of driving permits through transparent process of screening and examination would further bring improvement in traffic discipline and reduction of accidents on motorways and highways.

Amir Zulfiqar Khan said that NH&MP's core values - Help, education and Enforcement - could help reduce road accidents.

He said that during the last three, four months, the NH&MP has taken solid measures to further improve its performance including awareness campaigns regarding traffic rules and laws through educational institutions and first aid training for NH&MP officials in collaboration with Rescue 1122, which would help NH&MP officials in provision of first aid to the commuters in case of any accident, he added.

He said that NH&MP would launch a Web-based Radio and an Application 'Pasbaan' in the next month to provide information pertaining to traffic situation to the road-users before the start of their journey, adding that upgradation of licensing authority has also taken place with one window operation for issuing of driving licences.

"We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sundus Foundation, which works for children in Pakistan, who are affected by thalassaemia and related diseases, the IG said and added that the NH&MP officials and officers have donated blood for this cause." He appreciated the administration of Total Parco for showing keen interest in practically facilitating training of its employees through NH&MP training institutes.

Earlier, Amir Zulfiqar planted a sapling as part of the NH&MP tree plantation campaign "Plant for Pakistan" at the lawns of training college.

Total Parco Asia Pacific and middle East Senior Vice President Christian Cabrol, DIG/Commandant Training College Mehboob Aslam, SSP Syed Hashmat Kamal and other NH&MP senior officers were present, whereas renowned journalists Mujeebur Rehman Shami, Mubasher Lucman, Mansoor Ali Khan, Talib Hussain Bhatti, and others also attended the ceremony and plantedsaplings.
