IGP Reviews Performance Of Homicide Unit

ISLAMABAD, Jan 3 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Jan, 2017 ) : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin on Tuesday reviewed the performance of homicide unit constituted to trace murder cases and complete speedy investigation on them.
In a meeting presided over by IGP at Central Police, the overall performance of the unit about the cases entrusted to it was reviewed. The meeting was attended among others by DIG (Headquarters) Khalid Khan Khattak, DIG (Operations), SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas, Zonal SPs, In-Charge Homicide Unit and officers of Accounts Section.
The IGP directed the relevant officials to ensure timely provision of finances to investigation officers probing into murder cases so that they may face no financial hurdle. Islamabad Police Chief said that purpose of establishing homicide unit was to improve the standard of investigation in murder cases by using forensic and modern techniques.
He said that this unit was helpful for those innocents who were dragged into cases over enmity and to provide timely justice to them.
Addressing the police staff working in the homicide unit, the IGP said that all necessary facilities have been provided to them and workload was also shared with the investigation officers for effective performance.
The investigation officers described few problems being faced to them following which IGP issued directions to immediately resolve them. Islamabad police chief said that all investigation officers should complete the investigation purely on merit and provide justice to people.
It is to mention that this Specialized Homicide Investigation Unit (SHIU) has been established on the pattern of SHIU in Punjab which was also the initiative of Tariq Masod Yasin. The IGP hoped that all staff at homicide unit will accomplish their duties in a responsible manner and to leave no stone unturned in providing speedy justice to te masses.
