ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Dec, 2017 ) :The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday reserved its decision on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)'s petition seeking the dismissal of bail granted to incumbent MNA Capt (r) Muhammad Safdar in a case against him.
Safdar, facing a corruption reference in the accountability court reached IHC after being summoned by the two-member divisional bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani.
The NAB prosecutor presented arguments favouring the cancellation of Safdar's bail.
The IHC had summoned Safdar pertaining to a petition filed by NAB seeking cancellation of bail granted to him.
Amjad Pervez, the counsel for Safdar, countered arguments presented by NAB relying upon the same judgement (SCMR 2014) used by their prosecutor. He said if the accused appears or is brought before the court, he can execute bonds under Section 19 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
He said that the purpose of issuing non-bailable warrants is to ensure that the accused attends trial hearings. The purpose is to appear to answer the charge, he added.
