People Had Given Mandate To All Those Sitting On Both Sides Of Aisle And It Was The Responsibility Of All Of Us To Work For The Betterment Of People: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi

The Foreign Minister said that people had given mandate to all those sitting on both sides of aisle and it was the responsibility of all of us to work for the betterment of people.
He said that Ministry of Law and Justice had drafted six pieces of legislation for the welfare of the people which would be passed after consensus in the House.
He said that functioning of the Parliament could not be completed without formation of Standing Committees which had important role in the legislation process.
The constitution of House committees was a very important matter and vital for Parliament to function effectively. He said the matter got stuck on the issue of appointment of Leader of the Opposition as Chairman Public Accounts Committee.
He said the opposition leader was embroiled in cases of National Accountability Bureau, adding these cases were not filed by this government.
Qureshi said, "despite this, we have made every effort to resolve this impasse." He stressed that the legislators should behave with maturity and respect the opinion of each other.
Everything should be done in a parliamentary way so that people of Pakistan could know viewpoint of both sides.
Regarding Opposition's demand to issue production orders of detained MNA Khawaja Saad Rafique, the minister said that Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser issued the production order of the Leader of the Opposition and any further decision would be made keeping in view legal position.
After the speech of Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Opposition Leader Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif lauded the gesture of government, saying heading the Public Accounts Committee had been a tradition in the tenure of last two governments.
He said that this step would promote democratic norms and traditions and further solidify the institution of Parliament.
He said offer was made to PTI government by him in his first speech in National Assembly that all should work together in resolving the country's issues and strive to alleviate poverty and pursue economic prosperity.
He said that Opposition would cooperate in the interest of Pakistan and for the benefit of people.
PPPP leader and former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf acknowledged NA Speaker Asad Qaiser's efforts and positive role in resolving the PAC chairman issue.
Ashraf also lauded the government for reviewing its decision, adding that this house would become functional after a lapse of four months.
